What did you expect? People grow old and a new generation takes over. This applies to companies AS well as institutions like government and authority.
They at least planned for this having a clear line of succession and trained those who come after in the duties and responsibilities needed to carry on. Companies, especially video game companies, made the BIG mistake of assuming it was the brand and title that brought customers so as long as the had that they'd always have business
They were wrong
With how quickly A LOT of video game companies seem to be collapsing, when the original talent left because they made their money, got too old for it or couldn't come up with new ideas, there was no clear line of succession so it was dumped in the laps of the guy that used to bug fix or make the designs in the background or get them their coffee. The only video game company that DID a succession I remember seeing was the ones behind Warframe as the old guys left to do something new but had guys trained and ready to take over and then announced it in a stream. And they are doing fine.
