It's gotten so obvious I've had just normal co-workers notice this independently. I've explained it in masculine/feminine terms, but connecting it to Hallmark movies/Soap Operas is even better. "Doesn't work now feel like those shitty Hallmark movies your wife makes you watch? Do you think there's a connection there? What do you think it is?"
