Honestly, the first sentence there tells you all you need to know, really, doesn’t it?
“Police are hoping to see an increase in reports of sexual assault…”
I appreciate it is partially poor syntax/word choice on the part of the journalist, but it does show you how politically motivated this silly little stunt is…
We already have a culture where being falsely accused can ruin your life and career, without evidence or even a proper trial (excluding “trial by media/peers”), so all this does is remove a little bit more accountability from that process…
It’s NSW. In theory that is the state with the most “conservative” government and premier in the country right now… Let that sit with you for a moment.
However, NSW in essence, is Australia. It’s default Australia. The biggest state. The middle ground. The state which, by and large, defines this country. So… This really is just representative of wider trends, nationally, I fear…
NSW, “conservatism” or no, is also a police state. It quite literally is. I think you will find very few people of either political stripe who would disagree with that, at this point. A corrupt, highly inequitable police state. So no matter what “chosen” representative of the Uniparty was in charge at the time this came in (and I note that Perrotet has never faced an election, and looks very likely to lose at the election this year), simply put, it is merely a symptom of our march towards an authoritarian state. An anonymous, digital surveillance state. Woohoo.
Am I surprised in any way, therefore? Are you fucking kidding?!
