I believe there's two possibilities for heart damage: 1) spike protein itself damages the heart big time, like even a little bit does huge damage or 2) mRNA gets into the blood and directly damages the heart.
They've studied 2 in rats and the rats all got big time heart damage. As far as I know scientists have never injected just spike protein into the blood and found heart damage.
What they've done is like this study look at people with heart damage and find spike protein in the blood, but that could be due to mRNA getting into the blood and then into heart/vascular cells.
Or the spike protein is damaging and the mRNA creates a situation where the body is exposed to way more cumulative spike proteins than it would see with a regular infection, leading to more notable injury than just an infection.
