They tend to leave (rural) Montana pretty quickly, but they stay long enough to properly shit things up, especially in the cities.
The Dakotas are fairly safe; also fairly inhospitable. It's a statement on the absolute state of society and conservatism though imo.
Yeah, I watch Matt Christiansen and he's in Montana. He says that the California and Washington transplants love to try to turn Billings into a mini Portland.
