Not exactly. A few days before Tate was arrested, there was a lot of attention on Gorsad Kyiv.

Majid Nawaz suggested that Tate was thrown in jail to distract from Gorsad Kyiv. Not sure how credible that guy actually is, but it's at least a theory that doesn't hinge on demoralization of the male population.
