You'd need to target influential, private leftists to make it work. You couldn't put a caption over Bill Gates' face, but you could probably get a non-famous author or professor.

IMO the whole point of targeting randos is no one will think twice about cancelling them (if they're white male). If you try to put words in like anyone with a public persona's mouth, they'll just deny it, and people will have heard enough of their public leftism to believe it.
