Someone else brought this up last time, but it's really fucking icky. "Minor-attracted" is not the same as pedophilia, to begin with. The dude who was talking about it took it (way) too far and was like "hey, this picture of a 15 year old girl is undeniably sexy, right guys?" but the core point stands. It truly is the softening of language. A "Minor-attracted person," from a technical sense, could be attracted to a seventeen year old. That's more in the normal range. Not saying it's good, but I do think it's more understandable. And that's totally different than pedophilia.
Pedophiles are specifically attracted to children, which is much more specific than "minors."
Minor is a legal term, pedophile is attraction to prepubescent children. So not only does MAP/Minor-Attracted Person try to hide the dirtiness of pedophilia...it's also - like with a lot of this language-changing nonsense - much less specific and useful. Probably by intent. They're trying to ruin the very classification and muddy the waters.
