Ugh, another lame, action adventure RPG. Fuck you squeeenix. I'll pass on all your "looks and feels all the goddamn same teen drama angsty bullshit" final fantasy until we get back to 5, 6 and 7 style.
The game contains some sexual material: a character caressing and straddling a man in bed;
"A character". I suppose it's a chocobo? It isn't a man, after all, they note a man later in the line. If it were a woman, well, that's a term on par with man, it'd be used there. So it must be a non-human, right?
I want three things from my final fantasy: Some allusion to magic crystals, pseudo or actual turn-based combat, and giant yellow chickens.
I don't ask for much. But they keep wanting to take away even these minor requests.
EDIT: The ESRB application mentions "fast paced combat" and also a bunch of word salad that can be shortened to mid-combat QTEs. So... I guess this FF is going to be worse than FF:U. At least that loosely approximated turn-based combat.
I keep seeing this sentiment, and the "it's not turn based so it doesn't count :(" mentality and just not sure I really get it. As an FF fan I'm looking forward to the game, the producer/his team has a good track record and at least seems to care about the game, the franchise, as well as be passionate about it which I think a lot of developers lack in lieu of passion for social issues.
All of the games changed continually with the times, although it's clear the last several iterations changed more drastically, I still think all of the games have something to offer if you don't have a stick up your ass about it. And I guess this is just one of the few franchises that doesn't seem completely pozzed or actively scorning its fanbase with those social issues I mentioned.
I think it is pretty clear when you look at the way FF14 has turned out, since it is the same team - but I think it is definitely a more westernized take of the franchise in a lot of ways. And I think another big part of it is just that Yoshi P likes that type of stuff and was into a lot of western RPGs and MMOs as well throughout his life, picked up from interviews and stuff over the years.
All that being said, the trailers show a lot of classic Final Fantasy stuff that doesn't take away from the FF identity, imo at least - the summons in particular I think look potentially the best they ever have, although we will have to see once it is actually out.
I sound like I'm shilling and I apologize for that as I'm really not, I'm just trying to be open minded about the game, cause like I mentioned it is at least a bit less pozzed than other big franchises/titles we see these days. It may just be some generic half assed action RPG with some FF plated coating, just hoping that isn't the case.

Kuwupo.
Maybe they didn't have a biologist on hand to confirm if it was a woman or not. And considering the game is Japanese we can never rule out traps.
That said it's probably just woke shit making everything lose meaning again.
Assuming that is still the case then that is good to hear. The less woke infiltration the better
Either that, or it's faggotry, and the ESRB feels compelled to mention it while avoiding getting torched for 'giving a game an M because faggotry'.
Doesn't sound like the sort of thing Final Fantasy fans want. At least, not what they want from something called Final Fantasy.

Might have to wait for dragon quest XII. No chocobos though

Funny, I wasn't even really referring to gameplay.
Just read that description. It sounds like it could be any western RPG of the last decade. There's nothing in there makes me think 'Final Fantasy'.
Trolls and Orcs? Sex scenes? Gore and dismemberment?
None of these things bother me, but do any of them specifically make you think 'Final Fantasy?'
What do they stand to gain from further westernizing the west's favourite JRPG? Why water down the identity of an iconic franchise?
