I'm an atheist.

I don’t know if telling him to worship a divine soul sorcerer would have been very helpful.

It probably wouldn't have hurt.

Western civilization was built almost exclusively by Christians or people who behave in accordance with Christian values. It would take a colossal amount of hubris or idiocy to ignore that.
