I felt from the beginning that the ones that heavily pushed for censorship back then are the same personalities that are pushing for woke censorship now.

That was the likes of Tipper Gore, Hillary Clinton, and Joe Lieberman. I never saw any huge push for actual government censorship from the evangelicals -- it was simply, "keep it out of my house." Yet somehow growing up it was always the "evangelicals" fault when music or games got censored.
