Hm. I didn't mean to suggest that I was defending these bastards, but it's hard to judge. In some respects, they are slightly less bad, but in other respects, they are slightly worse. It's difficult to distinguish 97% bad from 98% bad though.
At least the government elites in the US have to pretend to win an election, European Parliament members don't even give that courteousy.
Well, they do. But the problem is that all parties are basically the same, so it doesn't matter who you 'vote' for. And their powers are very limited. You may have meant the European Commission, whose membership is determined by the member states. (And both are very corrupt.)
