The rest of the thread is even more interesting to me. About how they uncovered the CIA's control of the media and then covered it back up. It was already too late.
What's really alarming is that the CIA were trying to engage in journalistic propaganda, but it doesn't even come close to what the KGB had long succeeded at nearly all levels. The KGB had infiltrated most of the largest news papers, most of academia, most of Hollywood, and maybe a third of the State Department.
Yeah, sure, the CIA was trying to get a foothold on CBS. But Walter Cronkite was already a pinko, the State Department were basically KGB informants, Hollywood was Soviet controlled, Academia was dominated by revolutionary Communists, and the New York Times had been operating as Soviet Agents for 40 years by then.
The CIA didn't control the media, they controlled what was left when the KGB were done with it.
Do honest journalists even exist? Probably not. If a journalist spoke truth to power, he wouldn't be a journalist for very long.
You wonder, if so much of the media hadn't been busy whoring itself out to the Soviet Union for years, would they have been so amendable to total domination by the US government in the wake of the Soviet Union's collapse?
It might have been more difficult if the US hadn't decided to attempt to turn itself into the Soviet Union, of course, so maybe it's just that US media types see the power and prestige of Pravda and just can't help themselves...
Because the journalists who aren't explicitly partisan propagandists are just mercenaries. Once more the US security state turned towards their ideological bias, they became more amenable. They didn't like Bush (and they still challenge the DOD), but once Obama came in they literally refused to accept that he could do any wrong, and that's when a lot of news outlets just started straight up hiring security agents for "advisrors", "experts", and "contributors".
Other than that, their bias came from investments from Fabian Socialists in Europe (note they've never once stopped jizzing over Angela Merkle despite being the effective dictator of Germany for almost 2 decades, and fell in love with Tony Blair (despite his association with George Bush). The other investments came from China which is why they've been claiming that the US will be overtaken by China in military, diplomatic, political, and economic power in 10 years for the past 20 years.
