There's nothing bad about it per se but the consequences of it are pretty bad, at least in most cases. In this case he just gets celebrated and stunning and brave, but the average man takes a career hit for doing this, which harms his ability to provide for his family. His wife should be tending to the household so he can focus on work. Ideally as a full time housewife, but if she insists on working some bullshit job she should take the leave so he's not fucking up his career.
