Is there anything stopping you from claiming to be aboriginal?
I’ve only been to Australia once and I was so impressed by the aboriginal culture. Every morning queuing for the bar to open. They must have livers of iron!
I could easily "tick the box" on shit, but generally not something that might give me actual financial/material benefit, so it would be rather pointless...
I feel like everyone knows this, hence why numbers jump every census, but those "Aboriginals" are never actually represented in the community, lol...
But like, say, next time I went to public hospital, I could claim to be ATSI without any proof, and it would get me like, a private waiting room, and some extra paternalism/grovelling, but that's about it, lol...
Certainly to get an "indigenous identified position"/easy ride into a Uni course/extra Centrelink gibs - that's not quite so easy, obviously...

Yeah, it is fraud. You literally must prove your parentage to make the claim.
