Wouldn't the obvious answer be for both of them to change their names to a completely new name that represents the both of them? Unless you're counting lineage to a royal line, chances are you don't have some prestigious last name. That way you get the commitment bit from the name changing, as well as the "fuck you I don't want your family's last name" bit for the walking red flag who will divorce his ass for money as soon as legally allowable.
