I’ve asked a few black people who feel that america is the most racist place ever and that oppression abounds why they don’t leave (these people were upper middle class) and the anger I get for asking a simple question. But if you are truly being oppressed and as Lebron said you fear for your life why not leave asap? Or maybe they just do this because it’s easier than accepting any responsibility
Crying oppression is 100% up side. It functions as both an unassailable excuse for personal failure and a reliable means to secure resources and advantages. There is no down side; you risk nothing by claiming oppression because our society does not punish false claims. We venerate victimhood as the highest virtue, so everyone strives for it.

And you would think at some people people get tired of it or at least ask for evidence of said oppression. But I’m wrong.
