The Japanese aren't known to throw shit-fits when things don't go their way.
I think it also has to do with advertisers and Apple/Google. Elon doesn't want to rock the boat too much or otherwise, there will be an adpocalypse and Apple/Google will remove the Twitter app from their storefronts.
One of the reasons Alex Jones isn't coming on anytime soon which is probably why he had to say no so fast. He needs to focus on the barebone structure of twitter first and try to get it into a position it isn't reliant on ads or venture capital.
Once he's in that position, then he'll have more cards to play, I'm betting by that time both Google and Apple will have had job losses that they'd be more inclined to look the other way than drop money for ideology.
That's exactly what I have been telling the black pillers on Twitter.
He's trying to set the website up so it can operate on its own so once he hands over control to a CEO that believes in free speech it won't go to shit.
I'd LOVE to see Jones come back on, but it's a slow burn. Patience is required.
