Alot of national industries got nationalized during WW2. LuftHansa, Hugo Boss, Messerschmitt, Krupp, Henschel, Porsche for the Nazis, Mutsubishi and Nakajima Aircraft Company (which became Subaru) for the Japanese. Even Ford was partly nationalised in the US despite being a thing socialist governments do, the very people they were fighting.
Point is that when you have a manufacturing sector like in Germany and you have a party with the strength to force them into the war effort, there's not a whole lot the company can do to not comply.
Modern day Volkswagon pulling ads is just a virtue signal.
Nobody seems to get butthurt at Mitsubishi for manufacturing the planes the Japs used to bomb the US. Only at companies that worked for the Germans. I wonder why?
