It's because Asians are way more traditional than the West out of necessity. If they don't maintain a basic level of social cohesion they risk infiltration and assimilation by a rival country (China) while China is trying it's best by being totalitarian which is traditional for China.

It's why they have much better success rates academically than everyone else.
