Also, there are enough impoverished Favela-dwellers who don't give a fuck about politics that their votes are easy to buy in exchange for a few hundred real. They don't even have the show up in order to "vote" for Lula.

Yeah, a lot of people sell their votes here, not sure what they pay for federal elections but in 2020 I was working in a small town and saw messages in a WhatsApp group saying that they paid around 150 BRL (around 28 USD) for votes for mayor.
