I'm very harsh on shows with shitty plots or any woke shit. My gf has to endure me constantly pausing and shitting on the shows. I haven't even watched the new LOTR because I know I won't even be able to make it through an episode.

If you don't like anime, I don't blame you. A lot of anime is written "by the numbers" to appeal to fetishes and tropes to hit minimum guaranteed sales targets. Most shows are written not to be great, but to just not fail so the studio can pay its bills. This results in a lot of generic garbage with lolis and waifus and copy/pastes of the dominant tropes. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners looks like anime, but the characters and plot aren't "anime".

I started to shit on Edgerunners because shows these days made me so cynical. Basically I started to point out that Lucy suddenly liking the MC was unearned fan service bullshit. "she wouldn't like him so much". Mere seconds later the show fully explained why Lucy was "liking" the MC. Shit got real. The plot was solid all the way through. You can actually use your brain when watching this show and the show respects its internal logic.

Written by Japanese, of course, you have to go all the way to Japan to not have your shit ruined by Hollywood's libtard writing cabal.

This show is a very manly ultra-violence badass show, yet my (japanese) GF absolutely loved the show, was seriously upset by the (non-happy) ending, and downloaded the OST so now that's what plays when I'm with her in the car.

The first 3 episodes all happen in one day, then episode 4 is an entire montage and skips over the interesting shit of David learning the ropes for more montages.
Remember the first part of 2077 where it skips that massive part in-between arriving at the city and the job to get the Arasaka chip? That happens here and you say it's good?
Did you also forget that the diversity panel wanted to kick out Rebecca because "Loli isn't applicable for Cyberpunk." Cyberdong advertisements are but loli enhancements are where we draw the line. And she turned into the most popular character of the show but Trigger had to say she stays in or she'd be out.
And the god damn ending. That stupid song with David going full Gary-Stu? It's never explained why Cyberpsychosis is a thing, it's just something that happens. In Shadowrun, Essence is directly tied to cyber enhancement. How much Essence you lose is directly tied to how many body parts you replace. Here, Cyberpsychosis just happens. No in show reason as to why people just go crazy.
In short, I watched this with a bunch of guys and I was wondering why I wasn't liking it. And it's everything but the animation and character designs that were all Trigger. The story is breakneck pace, the tone is inconsistent, the characters are killed off so quickly and in gory fashion to provoke response like GoT. The music is modern day pop garbage, like the stuff you'd find on stations in 2077.
So yeah, this show is bad. Do yourself a favor and get the Laughing Man OVA of GITS Stand Alone Complex, that's 3 hours as well and does such a better characterization and slower pace compared to Edgerunners.
It's 3 seasons worth of material fit into 10 episodes that couldn't even do that right.
I still wish they would make a DLC of THAT. Considering the three different lifepaths which magically end up at the same place but obviously started from different origins, we would get three wildly varied storylines. I'm not sure CDPR has it in them.
Hard disagree. You wanted this show to be something else. It wasn't. It was very good at what it wanted to be. It just wasn't what you wanted it to be.
