It's funny, when I moved back home 10 years ago, they told me that Obama's surrogates (approved campaigners/politicians who campaigned for him instead of him going everywhere) were promising black people in Orlando and Jacksonville free shit, from phones to healthcare to homes and services. Said it was on video. I told them (my relatives), they told them it was all paid for in taxes, like Obama said in his speeches. Nope, they were going around to barber shops and promising them everything free if they voted for Obama. I didn't believe them because the ones saying it called black people shit like moon crickets unironically.
Yet, here we are. I hate when my white trash relatives are correct about anything.
It's OK, eleven years ago some of the people who pitched a fit about Heimdall being a black dude in the original Thor movie were pretty unpleasant people. And while i agreed it was stupid to make a viking god black, I was like "It's just one character in some random summer blockbuster based off a comic book. It's not the big deal they think it is."
Yeah, well, looking back on it... they were right. I don't like being wrong (for sake of my ego) and I don't like them being right (for sake of everything) but here we are.
