If she had come to Canada to do that, we could have killed her for a small fee. It's legal now.
Anyway, here's how the situation should have gone.
Find the friends and neighbours who cannot go out because of covid restrictions putting them in a worse position than anyone else.
Help them with their daily lives by going to the places they cannot and getting the things they cannot. Check in on them with a phone call at the very least, or tap on the door or window and just shout to them to make sure they get some kind of human interaction. They would likely pay you for your time to do this, if not just to cover the costs of the items they need.
Instead, we all hid for 2 years while the lockdowns closed society as a whole.
Lockdowns didn't work, we should have learned that the first time. Every time a lockdown ends, a spike in cases happened and a variant was created because people were not interacting with others and building up an immune system response to handle it. Now they're back together in close quarters and infecting each other with strains the body is not used to and does not fully know how to fight.
But up here in Canada, we haven't learned that. We went through several lockdowns. Sometimes even curfews, and limitations that made no sense whatsoever. Remember, with a curfew they're telling you that covid only exists during certain hours. But don't question it, it's for your own good.
What if you work nights? Gotta be off the street before 6am, but your shift ends at 5? Hope you like severe fines and penalties. Sure work could switch hours around to prevent that, but that would affect their bottom line, and they just can't have that. It's better you get fined than them.
I expected the government to not know how to handle the situation, but looking back it feels like at every opportunity, they chose the worst possible way to deal with it to make it worse, not better. Like sending covid patients to nursing homes to pump up those rookie numbers.
They went from parading around in huge groups at the start of all to prove that it was no big deal, to killing grandma and grandpa because you didn't wear a mask hard enough.
And they expect us to vote for them. Or care when they speak.
