Political leaders are generally bad. You don't get to the top through moral excellence, or any sort of excellence except manipulation.

Hereditary monarchy is quite bad, and I don't support reintroducing it, but at least it is a way to ensure that only some of the people who come to power are bad, rather than close to 100%.
