I keep saying this and sound like a broken record but why not just write a story inspired by Three Musketeers and then you can have all the diversity you want. Everybody Hates Chris took the concept of the Wonder Years and it was a popular show. Granted any show made today with the accepted diversity has a very high chance of being garbage. I guarantee reflecting modern leftist talking points will be crucial to plot.
