I am looking to have a medical procedure done in the near future that will be life-changing, but I am having to eat away at money that I have saved for that reason in order to fix my car.

If by life changing you mean irreversible and life shortening then I agree, though a Glock G21 is far cheaper and more efficient, I recommend the .45, you won’t need the extra rounds.
