It's not specific to you, but it's too bad that BPD is such an indistinct acronym in psychiatry which could easily be interpreted as either Borderline Personality Disorder or Bipolar Disorder, two distinct mental illnesses which share some commonality (affect young women, lead to very volatile relationships, involve lots of risk taking and self harm, etc), but also have vastly different symptom clusters, natural history and treatment options.
Women with Borderline Personality Disorder are essentially the quintessential crazy girlfriend who denies they have a problem, will never seek treatment and even if they did would soon realize there's little available and drugs don't work.
Women with Bipolar Disorder are often danger hairs, cycle between despair and euphoria/promiscuity but have a much better chance on achieving balance through pharmaceuticals like Lithium.
