I mean it in the sense that rather than either attempt assimilation into another culture or domination as is the case with Islam where you enforce your belief and will on a weaker, submissive culture, the corruption we usually see is like a venom.

It slowly spreads throughout the bloodstream, infecting every part until the original host is dead and being worn like a skinsuit. That's why I liken it to corruption.
