Did you expect anything else? You poke and spit at the bear enough, it will maul you. If all of this was contained to Ukraine and not bringing in car bombs, missiles might not be raining down right now
Russia's missile attacks on civilians harm Russia more than Ukraine. Ukraine is using this as a massive propaganda coup and getting a new round of media coverage out of it.
Russia's missile attacks have absolutely no military or deterrence value, because they didn't blow up anything militarily valuable, and were instead just a temper tantrum thrown by Putin after the humiliation of getting one of his prized infrastructure projects, the Kerch Bridge, blown up.
Since the Russians were already fighting as hard as they could before these attacks, they had no ability to escalate. The answer to the question "why didn't it do these attacks sooner?" is "because it would be a waste of valuable missiles" not "because we are nice guys and prefer to fight with 1 hand behind our backs". So all these attacks were is a self-own, a waste of missiles, and a propaganda failure.
And you better believe the pro-UKR west is going to exploit the propaganda coup they were handed to the hilt. Total unforced error by Putin.
That's a very sound and logically argument, except it is flawed by one key misunderstanding:
Is this designed to win over support in the West?
Why would they try, the West have actively been supplying the enemy, sanctioning and targeting Russian private citizens if they don't actively denounce Putin. There's no winning them over.
So what about the rest of the world? Well China wants to help Russia to keep this going, African countries don't care they want to continue business for grain imports, OPEC sided with Russia,India are interested in business and South America view this as US trying to push itself in the world again. This kind of retaliation after the car bomb to these countries actually plays off really well. It's seen as striking back against terrorists by the only effective method, force and unrestrained violence. Letting your enemy know they may hurt you but you can bury them at home.

You misunderstand me. I did not say Russia was trying to "win over" the West, just to not inflame it and hope it becomes ambivalent.
Well China wants to help Russia to keep this going
You apparently don't follow the news. No, China is absolutely not on Russia's side in this. China has consistently distanced itself from Russia and partially complied with sanctions. China only cares about China. I know the Russiabots dream of a China-Russia alliance, but China only looks out for itself, and it sees Russia as having fucked up and miscalcuated and doesn't want the blowback against Russia to undermine China's ambitions to conquer Taiwan.
9/15/22: General Secretary Xi Jinping meets with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Uzbekistan. According to the Russian readout, Xi and Putin discuss Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, about which Putin acknowledges that China has “questions and concerns,” while also thanking China for what Putin calls China’s “balanced position” on the invasion. The Chinese readout of the bilateral meeting does not mention a discussion of Ukraine or China’s no-limits partnership with Russia.
9/18/22: U.S. President Joe Biden says in an interview with 60 Minutes, “Thus far, there’s no indication [China has] put forward weapons or other things that Russia has wanted.”
OPEC sided with Russia
Not at all. OPEC only cares about OPEC. They didn't cut production to help Russia.
South America view this as US trying to push itself in the world again.
Wrong. Most South Americans sided with Ukraine, with only Venezuela supporting Putin. Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, the Dominican Republic, and Uruguay denounced the invasion. Ronaldo Costa, Brazil’s representative to the UN, stated Brazil’s position as ‘strongly condemning the violation of territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine’.
This kind of retaliation after the car bomb to these countries actually plays off really well.
lol nope. maybe it does to the NPC choir but to no one else.
It's seen as striking back against terrorists by the only effective method, force and unrestrained violence.
lol bro, literally nobody thinks that except for die hard russiabots. Nobody who isn't deep throating Putin sees using a truck bomb on the bridge as terrorism at all, or thinks that a UKR special forces OP to blow up a bridge justifies actual terror reprisals against civilians.
Two days ago they were gloating about a truck bomb partly destroying a bridge, now they are all huddled in basements as explosions rain down.
I have very limited sympathy nowadays, and I'm looking at these idiots like you look at a kid that throws things at the neighbours dog now crying begging for help as said dog chased them into their house, "What did you expect numbnuts!?"
I noticed you left Africa out of that rebuttal list, hard to label everything 'Russia bots' when African countries are the ones telling the West to get fucked and go to Russia for grain after Biden tried to get them to stop and starve instead. China doesn't care about an alliance and I never implied one, I said they are interested in keeping it going as it's depleting US hardware, makes any try on Taiwan a lot easier. OPEC knows how bad this green agenda in the west is and prefer to partially side with Russia for better returns later.
A lot of this "lol no" argument works on the principle there's some shared morality and how Russia is acting means that everyone is naturally opposed to it. The truth, if Russia decides to go bigger and do a themobaric bombardment on a city next, you won't hear anything from NATO.
