Depends on who the rest of the Republicans were.
Half of them could be committed to Globohomo.
Obviously, I agree with you that Reps are worse than Dems. But you seem to think that just getting Republicans in is a silver bullet. But there are tons like Eyepatch McCain, Romney, Spencer Cox, and others.
Those types would be the new "far left" which wouldn't be able to get elected in a right-only state.
OK, so you're assuming the disappearance of an ideology. Of course, if no one believed in the crap that we think is bad (=did not consider it in their interests), bad things would not happen. But I assert that with the current array of forces, it matters rather little whether Republicans win or Democrats. (And even then, I favor supporting Republicans, even Dr. Oz types in swing states, but pay attention to who you select).
Furthermore: it was only 20 years ago or so that the 'right' was beating the drums for an unnecessary and disastrous war, and the entire right fell into line. It's not as simple as right good left bad. Sometimes the left is right.
