Yeah, shit like this didn't happen in Middle-Earth. There was no race mixing. Elves and Humans lived in their own separate nations and cities, the former tended to be very reclusive and secretive, and they only became moreso as their power continued to wane over the ages.
If anything, humans are the most tolerant of all the assorted people in Middle-Earth. We've seen them living in close proximity to Hobbits, Elves, and Dwarves alike with really no problems. Elves and Dwarves hate each other's guts, both are seldom aware that Hobbits even exist, and Hobbits in turn tend to disdain everyone and everything outside their territories. Heck, we see far more cases of elven racism against humans in the books.
