Nowadays it is expected that every high-ranking politician is compromised in some way, especially if they claim to represent the right wing. Yet for once, DeSantis's recent decisions don't seem like controlled opposition or empty promises.
No matter how you look at it, shipping immigrants directly to Martha's Vineyard is not a token gesture. MV is a true stronghold of the elite. Obama, Bill Gates, these are not B-listers.
Now we've all seen this play out one too many times, me included, so it's very tempting to simply assume the black-pilled position. There is some perverted sense of comfort in that position, to never be unpleasantly surprised. But... maybe uncucked politicians are sometimes allowed to keep operating?
All politicians are grifters, no exception. The only question is what the grift is and who it benefits. In the case of (relatively) young, ambitious rising stars, it SHOULD be to get voters and keep them happy. After a while the politician gets settled in, and there's no more battles to win, or maybe they get bored with the office - then their goals shift to supporting special interests who will help them get more money or power. They all go through the life cycle, with how corrupt they are determining how fast they reach the end. All we can do is be mindful of that and watch them, pushing their actions to benefit us. Make sure they know we are watching. Politicians are tools. Use them until they stop working then dispose of them.
DeSantis has learned that "Be Like Trump" is the best way to win a constituency and keep it. As long as that aligns with his goals then he will keep doing it.
