There's currently a huge push across all of southern Ontario to kick this stuff out of the Boards. The municipal elections are in October and I know there are tons of candidates, in multiple cities, who are running for the first time for just this reason.

Nobody cares about municipal elections so there's a good chance we'll see a flip, if people will get out and vote with their principles.
