This comic is blending Loss, with a recent comic by a different creator where a gamer hears "it's a girl", and it's a black baby to a white couple, the woman looks worried about her cheating being revealed, but the gamer guy then rants "oh, even our baby is political now?!".

And when they actually get sort of close to successfully memeing, their own side pulls them back down into the crab bucket, and they bow and scrape as they apologize for actually being sort of almost funny, which was racist and sexist and they've learned and grown since then, sorry.
