What was previously legal that this law makes illegal that makes the law necessary? I haven't read it, but it seems pretty broad to me, and dissidents should well understand that it could be used against them.
The problem isn't that the shit that happened during St. Floyd protests is legal; the problem is that no enforcement was done. Plenty illegal shit was caught on video.
It makes battery during a riot a third degree felony rather than a first degree misdemeanor. Same for destroying a memorial or historical site. I think it makes rioting and aggravated rioting a second degree felony, and defines what constitutes rioting and aggravated rioting. It's not vague. Don't accept the left's framing of shit; nowhere does it say it's a crime to be in the same crowd as someone who is rioting if you aren't yourself rioting. And considering there are dissidents on the right in prison for years just for simply trespassing I'm not concerned this will give the left any new tools.
