I've never seen the gay version of "just be yourself and you'll find the one!"

From everything that's been relayed to me, it's very hard. As you note, promiscuity is rampant, but relationships are significantly less. Worse, straight people don't typically run into the issue of "I've already met everyone in the straight community here". Gays do. They literally run out of potential options. That's why there are also many gay men who would try to hook up with straight (-ish) men, and will even dress and act in a feminine way. One common refrain I've heard is gay men complaining that the number of gay men who are effeminate and submissive is way to high. Gay men are attracted to: ... wait for it... men (whoa!) and the masculinity that comes with it.

So how hard is it going to be to start a relationship when:

• The younger men don't want to start a relationship.
• The older men want younger men
• They only get a chance at maybe a few dozen men in a local community before they literally have to go to a different geographic area
• Most of those men not only aren't going to be "your type" normally, but also are the submissive type looking for masculine men
• Promiscuity is a real problem
• Communists are literally everywhere

Their chances at starting relationships are worse than even most middle-aged, eggless, carrer, women. When the eggless feminists complain "where are all the good men", they're just complaining about having to compromise, they aren't complaining that they literally ran out of men.
