It's one of those idyllic cultural myths that people claim to follow but don't. I've seen people rejected for anything from "he plays VIDEO GAMES for fun?" to "I don't like this comment they they put on Facebook". Otherwise those hiring managers acted like your typical "live and let live", "just do your job I don't care how you get it done" types.
