Pokemon Legends Arceus had good designs. What the fuck happened?

The female characters in that game: Akari, Arezu, Mai, Irida and Palina were fine.

What the fuck are these new designs?

I think the suits at gamefreak saw that someone had somehow made a decent pokemon game post 3DS leap and decided that couldnt be allowed.
