Anyone who thinks either of The Last of Us games belongs on a top ten games of all time list (or hell, a top 100 list) hasn't been playing games made before 2010. They did literally nothing that hadn't already been done in games thousands of times before and better. Even "tEh Em0sHuNuL sIn0MaTiK sToRyTeLlINg" that the games are known for was done to death before the PS2 era was over, the actual story within the games is the exact same ultra-nihilistic shit made by The Walking Dead, and actually looking into their world, setting, and plot past the surface elements will reveal the holes.
I really enjoyed playing 1 the first time round. Mainly for the atmosphere. But the second time round I realised just how basic it is. It's still a good game but I can name 20 games with little thought right now that are better.
I'd say it's debatable. Joel might have learned to love again over the course of TLoU, but his love for her didn't lead to anything good. It just caused him to kill all the people who had the potential to end the zombie menace once and for all, meaning his love only doomed the world and brought more suffering to it. While I was always of the personal opinion that the Fireflies were a bunch of idiots who were no different from the other gangs and raiders you encountered throughout the game and their idea of a cure was just an act of desperation at best and it was never going to work, it's clear the writers had other ideas and were intending me to take everything told to me at face value. The sequel showed their true colors.

FFVII is just as, if not more, cinematic. I don't think The Last of Us is going to get multiple remasters and spin offs like that game did.
Hell, FFXV is more cinematic and has a better story.
