The really sad thing is: She probably really isn't aware. She's so acustomed to being save and cared for that she started taking all the things the man does for granted. And she's teaching the next generation that this is how life is supposed to be, as shown in her own comic where she micromanages the shit out of her kids, just because she's going to leave the room.

This is learned behaviour and all of society is set up so that it cannot bite her in the ass.
