The rules are very simple and rigidly enforced. Rejecting the rules results in harsh punishments, while mastering them is rewarded.
It's impossible to make a progressive reading of the games without sounding retarded, since the progressive narrative of history is that the world is always advancing towards utopia. Dark Souls is the antithesis of that, where the world is constantly degenerating and occasionally great men arise that hold back the tide of entropy to temporarily allow the emergence of civilization. It is a futile effort in the long run and the hero knows this, but that doesn't deter them from the never ending struggle for life.
fuck, I gotta hook my ps3 back up now. got a copy of the og dark souls i never got around to trying a few months back. (played demon souls a bit, but add'ed onto something else later...)
I think you're reading too much into it. I think it's just "I suck at this game known for being difficult, and that means I'm a good queer". In other words, CCCCCOOOOOOOPPPPPPPPPEEEEEE. Being queer is an achievement to these people.
