He means demonise has the implication of being mischaracterisation rather than descriptive. If they are already a demon, you can't demonise them (turn them into a demon). Colloquially, he's just being pedantic.

I mean, he probably didn't really know the definition of the word since it's been used as a "bad thing" for so long. But we are in fact portraying them as wicket and threatening because that's what they are.
