It's the downfall of mass corporations and minor individuals alike: The person in charge of marketing says "I like this particular thing, so I assume everyone, even those very different from me, also like that thing."

I'm sure this event was sufficiently advertised in women-only facebook groups, womens' sexual health clinics, and whatnot. And maybe a bit lacking on it at sports bars, mens' barber shops, etc.
