Here's the thesis, as I understand it: If you abdicate your agency, your autonomy, to some social movement, or to evil camouflaged as a movement for social improvement (Communism, gay/trans liberation, abortion on demand, etc.) you leave yourself open to possession by evil (the "demonic").
NPCs, then, are empty vessels waiting to be filled. WHY they are willing to give themselves over to a demonic force is the question. Why not latch on to the the good, to the Christian, instead of the demonic?
Greater agency with the demonic? The illusion of power? Much more sexy than the passivity required by Christianity? More evil/demonic social forces at work than good/Christian social forces?
