It's even worse. They live in Dickie Moores. I don't remember that being a dead way of life, I don't think those trailers were around back pre-colonial days.
I doubt you could find a single native from North America living as if it were 1750.
My point is that that many of them sequester themselves away from wider US society for no reason. The reservations, the areas 'governed' by <insert native nation here>, serve no function other keeping some tribal aristocrats in some illusion of power.
Their existence actively encourages natives toward staying in communities where there is and never will be any good education or opportunity.
How many potential John Romeros have instead spent their lives getting blind drunk in a trailer or a glorified wooden tool shed just so that they could live next to their own people and send their children to a joke of a school where they can learn to (barely) write an economically useless language with no vocabulary for anything important in the modern world..
