My point is that that many of them sequester themselves away from wider US society for no reason. The reservations, the areas 'governed' by <insert native nation here>, serve no function other keeping some tribal aristocrats in some illusion of power.
Their existence actively encourages natives toward staying in communities where there is and never will be any good education or opportunity.
How many potential John Romeros have instead spent their lives getting blind drunk in a trailer or a glorified wooden tool shed just so that they could live next to their own people and send their children to a joke of a school where they can learn to (barely) write an economically useless language with no vocabulary for anything important in the modern world..
