Surely such upstanding gentlemen were not that bad. I mean, it's not like they would just publish outright falsehoods, including trying to did things like foment a war just to sell more papers. And they certainly wouldn't invent false claims about an accident on a battleship being a military attack when their initial propaganda campaigns failed to produce the war they wanted! Only despicably evil men would even consider doing such things.
