I mean that is his truthful existence, however what Foucault did was create the excuse for “intersectionality”. His life’s work was normalizing pedophilia through the concept of “power dynamics”. His teachings are why we have terms like systemic racism, and hidden white supremacy. He is still the most cited “scientist” in sociology.
I don't think philosophy makes a person more intelligent by studying it. In fact, I think it makes them less intelligent.
Smart people think for themselves. They don't pollute their minds with the bad ideas of others. You will never innovate by copy/pasting long dead idiots.
It depends on what you consider philosophy. I would argue that people like Foucault, Sartre, and Beauvoir should be read because their line of thought is what is currently being taught.
I don't need to read Marx to know Marxism is stupid. Why pollute my brain with stupidity?
