Honestly, as long as the mod itself wasn't deleted I can see the reason behind it. It was already becoming a cesspit just on that first page alone, with one side spamming memes and the other already getting offended and trying to whip up a fight.
That was to be expected, but it would get out of hand quickly and require actual moderator intervention too often to be worth.
They should just delete posts by the people getting aggressive, handing out timeouts etc.
That's my point. There are going to be so many of those that it'll basically end up locking the comment section in spirit anyway, while taking 10 times the time.
